South East Asia Regional Strategy on birth defects

Burke Fishburn is serving as a consultant to the South-East Asia Regional Office (SEARO) of the World Health Organization (WHO) to develop a regional strategy to provide guidance to member countries to evolve national programmes and strategies for prevention of birth defects to reduce morbidity and mortality among newborns and children.

Tobacco control training module for the Pacific community

In response to the tobacco epidemic in the Pacific island community, the World Health Organization-South Pacific Office is seeking to increase the tobacco control capacity of governments and nongovernment organizations by developing a tobacco control training module to form part of the current World Health Organization (WHO) non-communicable diseases (NCD) prevention resource and training package. Health Pragmatics. Ltd has been contracted by WHO to develop the training module and associated manuals and materials.

Global Smokefree Partnership

The Global Smokefree Partnership (GSP) is an international multi-partner initiative formed in 2005 to promote effective smokefree air policies worldwide. GSP provides access to the best evidence for smokefree policies, assistance to those who need it, and by advocating directly for smokefree air policies at the international level. Health Pragmatics, Ltd reviewed the GSP in light of transformations to the larger tobacco control environment, and provided recommendations to the GSP Steering Group and Management Team regarding the GSP’s mission and future strategy.
